I purchased a signed copy of a book called Crooked Cucumber
for my friend Meg
a while back. She liked it so much that I figured I should get one for myself. So tonight skp and I went to Petaluma and listened to David Chadwick
read from the book and tell stories. He was funny. I also found out that he lives in the same town as me. His book is a biography of Suzuki Roshi -- the Zen master who came from Japan to San Francisco in 1959 and founded the Zen center there. A good anecdote from his talk: "Someone asked Suzuki Roshi, What is Zen? He answered: What is brown rice? I like this question better."
